Make history while on the go

Civilization VI is a turn-based strategy 4X video game that lets you build a nation from the ground up. Developed and published by Aspyr Media, Inc., this mobile port allows you to continue enjoying the popular series on your smartphones and tablets. This version lets you try out the game for free and play for 60 turns before you have to upgrade to a premium version to continue your world conquest.

A great leap between platforms

Released in 2016, Sid Meier's Civilization VI is the 6th main installment of the genre-defining strategy franchise. This series, in particular, greatly contributed to the 4X subgenre that stands for “Explore, Expand, Exploit, Exterminate.” As such, you’ll see both classic gameplay elements here and new ones that were improved to address the previous titles’ failings—such as the city unstacking, that allows setting up of improvements to cities without being limited to a small spot.

This mobile port is mostly the same as the PC version, but it comes with some new features for the benefit of both new and old players. There are new tutorial systems in place—both to ease the transition from a controller to touchscreen and to facilitate the introduction of the genre’s interlocking concepts to beginners at this kind of gameplay. After all, these types of strategy games are in it for the long haul.

The original two expansions—Rise and Fall and Gathering Storm—are also available for purchase. Plus, there are various new nations to try out with the six unique Civilization & Scenario Packs. Among them, you can build Australia, Macedon, Nubia, and Poland and compete with the original civilizations available. These come with new challenges and leaders, as well. Unfortunately, compared to the PC version, this port has frequent performance issues and is priced much higher than the original.

Still a winner

Overall, Civilization VI definitely brings back and improves upon old gameplay mechanics. The mobile port has been successful, as well, and helps in introducing the game to mobile game lovers. However, PC players may find this port a bit of a letdown due to its different pricing range and various bugs. Nevertheless, it’s impressive enough that such an expansive can run well on a mobile device without much problem.

Based on our scan system, we have determined that these flags are possibly false positives.

What is a false positive?

It means a benign program is wrongfully flagged as malicious due to an overly broad detection signature or algorithm used in an antivirus program.
